soft seattle rain

a close friend ceased being alive recently and i found myself awake at 3:00 am on a typical soggy seattle night thinking of him. after some reflection and introspection i found myself writing what started as a tribute and memorial poem but ended up as song lyrics, neither of which i've ever attempted before. aging surely does change a person. here's to you tom! anyway, i was hoping to find a musician who would have an interest in putting a tune to my lyrics.

soft seattle rain

(that melancholy puget sound)

i hear the soft seattle rain

tapping gently on my window pane

tracing rivulets flowing down

to that melancholy puget sound

tantalizing, mesmerizing

wash away the daily grind

warped reflection, introspection

meaning there for me to find

falling, calling, so enthralling

flowing, growing, stream to sea

give me solace, take me with you

only you can set me free

mysteries therein concealed

insights there to be revealed
