education reform - the perfect storm for reform?
in all areas of the usa federal government - the economy, health care, foreign policy, regulation, etc. - the reigning mantra seems to be "change". nowhere is the cry for change more touted and the need for change greater than in our education system. following is a copy of a link to an article by gerald f. seib appearing in the march 17, 2009 on-line edition of the wall street journal alluding to the current administration's commitment to "real change" and "real education reform".
are we as a society really prepared or able to tackle this 800 pound gorilla...or is this just more political lip-service while we continue to patch and perpetuate the existing anachronistic paradigm?
i thought this was a timely article in that i'm currently working on a series of blog posts on the topic of education - broadly defined.
